Gobindgarh Fort

Gobindgarh Fort, among the famous places to hang out in Amritsar, is the narrator of many stories. The glorious past of this fort starts from the Bhangi Misal era. Gujjar Singh Bhangi built this fort in 1760. After this Maharaja Ranjit Singh rebuilt this fort between 1805-1809.
In 1849, the British took this fort under their control and got many constructions done in it. In which Durbar Hall, Hawa Mahal, and Phansi Ghar are there. It is said that General Dyer used to live in the front part of the Phansi Ghar (Hanging House) so that he could see people during their hanging. In 1948, this fort was taken over by the Indian Army.
