There is a story about this village that a minister of that time visited this village, and during that visit, he fell in love with a girl from this village, whom he wanted to marry. The minister threatened the villagers that if they did not get him married to that girl, he would levy a huge tax on them. To protect the girl from that minister, villagers decided to leave the village. But no one saw those villagers leaving the village. The story of this palace begins with Peshwa Bajirao, who had two sons. Balaji Bajirao, also known as Nana Saheb, and Raghunath Rao. After the death of Peshwa Bajirao, Nana Saheb became the New Peshwa. Nana Saheb had 3 sons Vishwa Rao, Mahadev Rao, Narayan Rao.
Vishwa Rao had died in the third battle of Panipat. After the death of Nana Saheb, his 2nd son Mahadev Rao ascended the throne. But he died at the age of 27 and after his death, the 3rd son of Peshwa Nana Saheb i.e., Narayan Rao was placed on the throne. He was just 17 at that time. But the sitting of 17-year-old Narayan Rao on the throne was disturbing for his uncle (Raghunath Rao).
So, Raghunath Rao made a plan to kill Narayan Rao, under which he wrote a letter to Sumendra Singh, the Head of the Shikari Tribal Gardi, and ordered to kill Narayan Rao. On receiving this letter, Sumendra Singh Gardi attacked this fort. After seeing him, Narayan Rao started running towards his uncle’s room saying – ‘Kaka Mala Vachva’ meaning ‘Uncle Save Me’. But before he reached his uncle’s room, Sumendra Singh killed Narayan Rao.
People say that Narayan Rao’s soul is still in Shaniwarwada and the last words which were spoken by him i.e., ‘Kaka Mala Vachva’ is still heard in the fort. For this reason, this fort is counted among the top 10 haunted places in India.
GP Block Meerut

The place where he shot himself, today a hotel is there, which is known as the Barog Pine Wood Hotel.
